I think it necessary that we have the proper perspective of others and of ourselves. As Christians, we need to know who we are and what we are capable of - both positive and negative. It is, then, my objective to consider our frailties and offer some advice.
"In the world ye shall have tribulation." It is my objective to expound our text noting the implications and making application. By this, I trust we shall ALL be encouraged to "hold the fort."
The name Barnabas was one which was given to him based on his character / actions. I think we can learn from this. It is, then, my objective to consider the monikers which we might earn. May they be good, positive, and God-honoring; this would be my challenge to you today.
It is my objective to consider the message of the Apostle Paul as found in our text. I simply desire to expound it. Paul's words rang true to the first century listeners; I believe it remains a beacon today. Therefore, we declare unto you glad tidings.
The Lord, in these passages, dictated to Moses the laws regarding the sin offerings and the trespass offerings. This was directed toward the Jews. Yet, even in those remedies there was fault (Heb. 9:6-14; 10:3-4). Nevertheless, there is an important truth expressed in our text which is still true today. It is this truth with which I am concerned.
This story is a reminder to all of us that there are times in our life when we need someone's assistance. Of all whom we might seek, we should seek the Lord. May it be, that Jesus will hear our voice and call us to come to Him.
Our text indicates a wrong signal. It is my objective to look into our text to discern James' intention, but I shall also make an application. Perhaps we can learn something about wrong signals.
Some people say they will do a thing but never do. Others say they won't, but later change their minds and will. It is my objective to look into our text and learn a few things about the human will and evangelism. Is willingness enough, or should there also be a response?
Everyone has problems and their own crosses to bear. It is my objective to address those in our midst who put on a happy face but are sad within, and lend some biblical guidance.
Christians are called "children of light." I desire that we discover what that means. I would like the Christian to grow in Christ and the lost person to see their need of Jesus and turn to Him for life and light.
