Be Encouraged
In this day and time, we are surrounded by problems. Our hearts are often burdened. As we look into this Psalm, may we take courage. May we look up, fix our eyes upon God, and fight the good fight of faith.

Man's heart is good at misdirection. We will buzz like a bee from flower to flower looking for satisfaction. We might receive, but there is no inward peace. Perhaps you have emptiness in your soul. Does it seem to you that something is lacking?
God has instituted the law of sowing and reaping. This law is evident throughout the creation. It is also understood in the spiritual realm. It is expressed in the Scriptures. Being God's law, it cannot be overcome.
Have you ever been in a situation where the circumstances seemed overwhelming? Maybe you had to face the trouble alone. In our text we find the underdog surprising the crowd. We find a young man with a mature faith overcoming a giant of a man with small faith.
It is my objective to consider a biblical example where Israel had fallen away from God; and if there was to be any type of restoration then there would have to be proper spiritual preparation. By this, I trust we will see the need to do so ourselves.
We shall look into our text and learn of a man who almost became a Christian. My objective is to bear witness to the truth that almost is not enough.
What would other Christians say about our profession of faith? Would they view us as true believers? I would like for us to consider the Thessalonicans and notice the comments regarding their profession of faith in Christ.
Certain days are important to us, perhaps a wedding date, upcoming vacation, or retirement. There are days we look forward to and have trouble waiting for their arrival. We anticipate those special times. It is my objective to remind you of a coming day, one you should desire to see.
I submit unto you that salvation is by grace through faith apart from works; that Jesus alone is the Savior. I believe that the text I have chosen will demonstrate this truth.
Have you experienced difficulty in your life? I know that you have. None of us are exempt from difficulty. This passage tells of a difficult time in the life of David. I believe this lesson is for every one of us.
