Luke continues his narrative by detailing a few post-resurrection activities by the Lord Jesus. This one involves the two men on the road to Emmaus and their opportunity to learn more about Jesus. May we share Him so that others may learn.
Many have a head knowledge of Bible truth but they don't have a heart knowledge. What a tragedy! I ask, have you believed the biblical description of Jesus and the way for eternal life?
Some things are very hard to believe so we want to "see it with our own eyes." Our text tells us of the women who failed to believe at first, and of the other disciples who failed to believe the women. They wanted to see it with their own eyes! Of course, we are thinking about the resurrection of Jesus.
There are plenty of things of which to be afraid. But, is that how the child of God should respond? It is my intention to offer you words of encouragement today.
Last time we began in these verses and we noticed "To the Cross" and "At the Cross." Of course, we are thinking of the cross of Jesus. We finish up the chapter by considering "On the Cross" and "After the Cross."
Today is set aside to honor our mothers. Typically, today, a gift is given. Better than a necklace, watch, or flowers, I submit there are greater things you can give to your mother.
I would think the most common Christian symbol is the cross. What we are really concerned about is what happened on the cross, specifically, the cross of Jesus. Our text describes Jesus' interaction with the cross.
Aren't you glad you could go to church today? Aren't you happy the doors are unlocked? Don't you look forward to the time when all the restraints will be lifted? I know I do. I believe you do too.
