Our text deals with the issue of overwhelming odds and isolation from our compatriots. In it we find the underdog surprising the crowd. We find a young man with a mature faith overcome a giant of a man with small faith.
This world is full of heartache and blessing. When it comes to family, all parents rejoice or grieve over their children. Our text expresses joy; such is the topic for our meditations today.
Sometimes we will play footsie with the world; when we do, the consequences are never good. As Solomon stated about taking fire into our bosom, it is certain we will be burned. Our Bible story will bear this out.
God can overcome any trial that comes our way. May we be reminded of the authenticity of the Scriptures and of God Who continues to sit upon His throne in Heaven.
Regarding our Bible story for today some say it never happened. Others say it was a fluke of nature. I say it happened exactly as recorded for us in the Bible.
Today is Mother's Day. Our text honors a mother, but there is more to the verses. May God bless His Word.
